Artist Statement:

Tonia Calderon, A painter and designer from California was heavily influenced by music to create some beautiful artwork. The 28 year-old entwined music and art together to create her “Black & Gold” series. The paintings are portraits of various artists and include many of their famous lyrics. Her pieces are featured at the Tupac Afeni Shakur Museum in Atlanta, GA and the National Museum of Contemporary Art in San Francisco, CA. The unique paintings can also be found in the homes of celebrities such as Usher, Lady Gaga, Rhianna, and P.Diddy, to name a few.

Los Angeles Premier Contemporary art space,  Soze Gallery introduces ‘SOMEWHERE ON THE MOON’ by artist Tonia Calderon. Calderon will premier her Abstract Collection in which you’ll find small tributes to her most recent ‘Parallel Lines’ series’ which remains one of Calderon’s most personal collections. It’s incredible to see such a seamless evolution of Calderon’s work which has transformed into something so light, refreshing and inviting; all while staying true to her own unique clean and structured style we’ve come to know and love throughout the years. Calderon’s unique attention to detail makes this exhibit simply magical. In each piece you can find yourself getting lost and feeling as if you’re ‘SOMEWHERE ON THE MOON’.

Expected guest include known collectors of Calderon’s work, including Amare Stoudemire, Dr. Dre, Swizz Beatz, Tyson Chandler, Draya Michelle, and Russell Simmons as well as Lance Gross, JoJo, Lupe Fiasco, Christina Milan, and Matt Kemp.
